Shake, Rattle, and Hop: Making Easter Shakers for Little Hoppers!

Get ready to hop into the Easter spirit with a crafty adventure tailor-made for your tiny tots!

This activity has been taken from our activity guides that come as part of your subscription boxes..... it's an exciting one because what used to contain 12 activities that were themed and linked to the EYFS.... now contains 24 activities and 12 of those are written with babies and toddlers in mind!

We’re making Easter shakers – an egg-citing activity guaranteed to crack a smile on everyone’s face, especially those of your little bunnies!

Materials Needed:

• Hollow plastic eggs (because real eggs are for egg hunts of course!)

• Rice, lentils, pasta, or any other tiny treasures for filling

• Tape (because we’re sealing in the goodness, not secrets!)

• Easter stickers or decorations (because what’s Easter without a splash of cuteness?)

Instructions:

1. Fill ’Em Up: Let your mini-makers dive into a world of sensory exploration as they fill those plastic eggs with whatever tickles their fancy – rice, lentils, pasta, you name it! It’s like a mini kitchen adventure, minus the mess (actually that's not true.... our activity tester made a lot of mess with this activity- but it's an easy clean up .... does that still count?!)

2. Tape It Shut: Grab that tape and seal those eggs tight! (Makes them play safe!!)

3. Get Fancy: Now it’s time to let those creative juices flow! Stick on some adorable Easter stickers or go wild with decorations. Who knew eggs could be so egg-stravagant?

4. Shake Your Tail Feathers: Shake, rattle, and roll! Once those Easter shakers are ready to go, it’s time to boogie down with some egg-citing tunes. Let your little ones shake their stuff and get groovy – who needs a dance floor when you’ve got shakers in hand?

Here's how the activity links in with the EYFS:

1. Physical Development: Filling eggs and sealing them shut is like a mini workout for those tiny fingers. And shaking those shakers? That’s a whole-body workout!

2. Communication and Language: From egg-citing exclamations to giggles of delight, this activity is a language bonanza! Who knew crafting could be so chatty?

3. Personal, Social, and Emotional Development: Sharing stickers, taking turns, and dancing together – this activity is all about teamwork and spreading smiles. It’s egg-actly what the doctor ordered for some feel-good fun!

4. Understanding the World: Exploring different textures and sounds is like a crash course in science for our little scientists-in-training. Who needs a lab coat when you’ve got eggs and rice?

So, there you have it – an egg-cellent adventure in crafting for our littlest ones. Get cracking, get crafting, and let the Easter shenanigans begin- and don't forget to send us your photos!!!
